DEAR FAMILIES, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AND VISITORS!
On behalf of the entire Saline Middle School Staff, I wish to extend a very warm welcome to you. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about our school and district. We are confident that you will enjoy seeing the Middle School’s points of pride as you browse around.
First, let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am married to Trisha Raft who teaches kindergarten at Houghton Elementary School, and we have two daughters. I graduated from Saline High School and attended Eastern Michigan University where I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Education and my master’s degree in Educational Leadership; I am currently working on my Specialist in Educational Leadership. Both my wife and I feel very fortunate to be part of such a stellar school district surrounded by great staff, students, and parents.
I have been very fortunate in my educational career to have had many experiences. Both my wife and I spent our first three years teaching in Indiana before returning to Saline. I taught Marketing at the High School; was a Vocational Education teacher; coached High School Football and Baseball; was a Drivers Education Instructor; an Assistant Principal at Heritage School a 5th /6th grade building; then I was named Principal of Harvest Elementary, a brand new school within the district. As a building administrator, there are not many experiences more exciting than opening a new building. After four amazing years at Harvest , I made a short stop at Woodland Meadows Elementary before being named the Middle School Principal. I continue to be blessed by being a part of another sensational Saline School.
Whether I am working with seniors in high school, redirecting a 7th grader or reading with a first grader, I have come to one conclusion: Kids are kids and they all possess many of the same needs, but we as educators have to understand what those are and tailor them to their developmental stages.
Please be assured that all the students at the Saline Middle School are very special to us and that we want your child’s years with us to be happy, productive years. At the Saline Middle School we offer high quality educational opportunities that will challenge each student to obtain their maximum potential.
